the Music Lyrics Database

Oh, I forgot. The site has new address: http://www.mldb.org/ - the Music Lyrics Database (or MLDb for short)

the Music Lyrics Database

Search tips

  • You can find song title or artist using a part of the text
  • If you want to search a song by artist and title - better click on "Artist and title" and select "any word"
  • When you search within song lyrics you can use "Exact phrase" search to get more relevant results
  • Search is not case sensitive. So "test" and "TeSt" will return the same results.

Full-text search

Well it's not so easy to make full-text search. It requires dedicated server to start the search engine. I didn't find hosting that allow to run a software like this search engine.
But hosting is cheap and dedicated server is expensive. I can't use my home server because my internet is not stable enough.

-- donations are suspended --

So if I don't get enough money to rent a dedicated server until the end of the year I'll return your money.

Multilanguage Support

We are happy to anounce that Croler Lyrics now has multi language support. Unfortunately it's hard to support multilanguage search. For now search works only in English, Bulgarian , Russian and other cyrillic languages. Of course search can work in other languages, but some words may not be indexed right. For example the word 'für' ('for' in german) will be indexed as 2 words: 'f' and 'r'.
We are working hardly to include other languages in search engine.

New version of search engine

We installed a new version of the search engine. This will fix many language problems.
Changing encoding to UTF-8 is only one step of making lyrics to work with many languages. We will convert the whole database to UTF-8 charset and optimize it for searching. This can take a while.

Creating the lyrics search engine

Today internet is full of lyrics sites. Why should I create one?
Well the internet is also full of search engines. Why then google created their search engine?

Right! Most webmasters forget that primary content of pages must not be advertisements. They are trying to make you click on their ads no matter if you are interested in product advertised. And the popups ... they are really annoying.

When creating my lyrics site I wanted to be useful and easy to use.

But my site still has advertisements. Why?
I'm not so rich to pay for server and internet traffic. If I'm able to pay for this site by my self I'll remove advertisements. For now they will stay. But I'll try to not to put shocking ads. Also I'll review advertisers and I'll deny ads if they point to bad sites.
And don't get me wrong! You are not required to click on adverticements. Actually you must not click on ads if you are not interested.

And finally, I'll be happy to hear what you think about the site:
